Welcome to Robin's Hosting. I provide free Web site hosting to students currently enrolled in the Contra Costa ROP Web Page Design and Development Program. This is a learning lab; a place for students to learn about managing web sites using FTP, CPanel, Fantastico, and other hosting tools. In order to qualify for free hosting students must be currently enrolled in the Web Design program at the Pleasant Hill Technology Center.
Hosting will be provided free of charge while students are enrolled in the ROP Web Design Program. Upon graduation students will have to move thier accounts to a new hosting provider. It is important for students to understand that free hosting will not be provided beyond your graduation date. Once you complete the program you must backup your files and move them to a new hosting provider. I am currently using Host Gator as my hosting provider. Accounts start at as little at $4.95 per month.
Your hosting account will include all of the features found in paid hosting accounts. You will be allotted 150 megabytes of disk space, 500MB of bandwidth, FTP access, CPanel management, Fantastico installation scripts, a personalized email account, and five PHP and MySQL databases. A complete list of hosting features can be found on the order page.
All free accounts include CPanel. CPanel is an interface that allows users to control their hosting accounts. Through CPanel you can configure and check email (using multiple web interfaces), check site statistical information (visitors, referrals, etc.), manage databases, set directory permissions, edit .htaccess files, add hotlink protection, create and manage FTP accounts, upload and manage files, perform site backups, submit sites to search engines, and perform one click installation of CGI and other scripts. To learn more about CPanel please read the frequently asked questions.
Fantastico is an auto installer. Fantastico will allow you to install numerous web applications like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Xoops, Mambo, pMachine, shopping carts, help desk systems, wikis, and loads of other scripts with a click of a button. To learn more about Fantastico please read the frequently asked questions.
Your instructor is providing you with free hosting for the duration of your course. You are expected to review all of the tutorials, guides, and resources provided by your instructor. Before you request support you should check the frequently asked questions page to see if there is a support document or demonstration movie. Support by your instructor will only be available during classroom hours.
In order to establish an account with robinshosting.com you must be a current ROP web design student. Accounts will not be created unless you are enrolled in the ROP Web Development Program. This hosting program is not open to the general public.
Remember, these accounts are only available for students who are currently enrolled in the ROP Web Design Program at the Pleasant Hill Training Center. Accounts are not available for the general public. If you sign-up for an account it will not be activated if you are not a current or former ROP Web Development student.
